When it comes to design, Milan is undoubtedly the international capital. The city is home to furniture companies, creatives, and ateliers where new ideas are born and brought to life. This program tells the story of Italian design, which emerged after World War II and was made unforgettable by figures like Albini, Castiglioni, Ponti, and Colombo, who found fertile ground in Milan for their ideas. With the “Design On-the-Go” seminar, you’ll get an up-close look at a sector that has revolutionized and continues to influence global trends.
Milan is a global capital of design — a city where creative thinking becomes objects, spaces, and architecture. From iconic furniture pieces to contemporary interiors, the language of design is spoken in studios, museums, archives, and showrooms.
At Il Centro – Italian School for Foreigners, our Italian for Design pathway blends morning Italian classes with curated afternoons inside the city’s design ecosystem, so you learn Italian where ideas become projects and projects become culture.
This exclusive program combines a one-week intensive Italian course (4 lessons per day, starting at 9:00 AM) with two afternoons dedicated to exploring Milan’s renowned design scene. Perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in both the Italian language and culture through creativity and innovation.
The design component is guided by Matteo Chincarini, art curator and consultant, founder of Chincarini Eventi, who brings his expertise in art, design, and visual culture to a one-of-a-kind educational journey.
Matteo Chincarini is an art curator and consultant, founder of Chincarini Eventi (2018), creating cultural events and exhibitions across art, design, performing arts, and fashion. A graduate of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, he has worked in the visual arts since 2009, curating projects that connect art, history, and aesthetics.
His philosophy balances creativity with the relational and social dimension of culture: every project is conceived as a shared cultural experience, elevating beauty, innovation, and dialogue.
Through design, Matteo explores how objects and spaces express identity and values — connecting heritage materials, iconic pieces, and contemporary experimentation through museum-grade storytelling.
